The Faces of Impact
Nearly every minute, a child under 5 dies of malaria. Over 50% of the world’s population lives in areas deemed high-risk for mosquito-borne diseases.
In 2013, we created a dedicated team focused on improving the health of the world's poorest, most vulnerable 4 billion people.
Meet some of the 105M people we’ve reached with education and products since we created this team and learn how we’ve impacted their lives.
Behind the Science
Behind the Science
At the end of the day, our work is all about people.
The people who make up 50% of the world’s population who are at high-risk for mosquito-borne diseases, and the people behind the groundbreaking public-health product innovations developed to help protect families from mosquitoes and the diseases they may carry.
Public Health Tools
Public Health Tools
Over the past 10 years, our dedicated team of SC Johnson scientists have developed multiple public-health products designed to help protect people from mosquitoes and the diseases they may carry.
This is part of our commitment, spanning five generations, to drive our contributions, local collaborations and programs for social good – and how we define being at work for a #betterworld.

Path to a Policy
Path to a Policy
For new public health tools to reach the people who need them the
most, it involves getting a World Health Organization policy recommendation –
their official stamp of approval – which is a long and complex process.
Learn how a recommendation is formed and how SC Johnson is
progressing toward one for its spatial repellents.
Access to Healthcare
“It’s a no-brainer. With better access, more people will continue to be able to access healthcare, diagnosis and treatment, and will survive.” – Richard Allan, CEO, The MENTOR Initiative
Communities where people need health services the most are often the least likely to have access. Small clinics and rural hospitals play an outsized role in the health of the communities they serve – often seeing hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people each day.
Power of Partners
“Our partnership with SC Johnson is built on a shared commitment to protect families around the world from preventable disease and reach the most underserved and hard-to-reach communities.” – Margaret McDonnell, Executive Director, United Nations Foundation’s United to Beat Malaria Campaign.
Malaria is a fight we can’t tackle by ourselves, so we seek strategic partners to create a growing ripple effect of impact, going beyond what SC Johnson can do alone.
Impact by the Numbers
Although we launched our first pest control product back in 1956, our focus since 2013 has been on helping prevent mosquito-borne disease for the world's most vulnerable populations.
To help maximize our impact, we're investing in local public-health product manufacturing, finding strategic partners to help reach more people, and growing our global presence across 3 continents.
Looking Ahead
Looking Ahead
Although this year we celebrate a milestone – 10 years of a dedicated SC Johnson team helping protect people at risk for mosquito-borne diseases like malaria – our work, and our impact, is far from done.
As a family company at work for a better, healthier world, we’re committed to staying in the fight to help prevent mosquito-borne disease for those among the world’s most vulnerable.
Here’s to the next decade of impact.
